"The 2011 Syrah Migliara shows a more savory side of Syrah, with the fruit pushed a bit backward and plenty of varietal aromas and flavors that develop in the glass. Lavender, cured meats, black pepper, mint, sweet spices and tobacco give the 2011 superb complexity that plays off the inherent richness of the vintage and generosity of Cortona. A dense, meaty wine, the 2011 Migliara is going to need at least a few years in bottle to fully blossom. Still, it is impressive today. I tasted the 2011 from tank, just prior to bottling."
