La tradizione vinicola della famiglia Rothschild risale alla seconda metà del XIX secolo, e al 1868 con esattezza, anno in cui James de Rothschild acquistò il famoso Château Lafite. Fu però nel 1973 che, dopo più di un secolo di storia familiare connessa al mondo del vino, il pronipote di James, il barone Edmond de Rothschild, rafforzò le proprietà aziendali, acquisendo due “Crus Bourgeois” a Listrac e a Moulis en Médoc: Château Clarke e Château Malmaison.Da allora, l’ascesa: restaurando con rigore tutte le strutture e gli edifici e dando il via a sistematici reimpianti, venne fondata la “Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild” la quale, pur mantenendo una dimensione familiare, ha aperto a modernizzazioni e innovazioni varcando anche i confini francesi, per approdare fino in Sud Africa e nelle Ande argentine.
